He was predeceased by: his parents, George Robert Parkerson, Sr. and Nettie Sue Tuck Parkerson; his wife Mary McCowen Parkerson; and his brothers, William Lawrence Parkerson and Walter Tuck Parkerson.
He is survived by: his brother John Beveridge Parkerson; his children, Sue Tuck Parkerson of Cary, Bob Parkerson (Susan) of Houston, Texas, Ann Parkerson Jones (Barry) of Raleigh and Lyn Parkerson Carpenter (Kelly) of Winston-Salem; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Wisner (Ashley), Steven Jones, Caroline Wisner, Katie Parkerson, Jack Parkerson and Kate Carpenter.
