She was predeceased by: her parents, Hubert Brinkley and Lottie Brinkley; her husband Alex Terrell Staples Jr.; and her son Steven Staples. She is survived by: her son Terry Staples; her sister Jewel Tharrington; and her great grandchild Aidan Staples. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Clements Funeral Chapel (1105 Broad St, Durham, NC 27705).
