It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Irving Joyce (Durham, North Carolina), who passed away on November 5, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Dolphus Joyce and Sallie Joyce; his wife Wyola Hair Joyce; his children, Denise Joyce and Harold Joyce; and his brothers, Willie and Howard Joyce.
He is survived by: his children, James Joyce Jr., Vickie King (Scot) and Linda Griffin; his grandchildren, Wesley Joyce, Nikki Shreck (Timmy), Richard King (Angela), Jason King (Ashley), Lauren King (Dan) and Andrew Joyce (Taylor); his great grandchildren, Tristen, Taylor Shreck, Allie and Beau Joyce; and his siblings, Mary Lee Doss, Hazel Vernon, Earline Franks, Wayne, Thomas, Benton and Glenn Joyce.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 10th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 11th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Durham Memorial Baptist Church (133 Robbins Rd, Durham, NC 27703).
