With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Sorauf (Durham, North Carolina), who passed away on January 21, 2026 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact James had on those he encountered along his journey. Though James may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.

He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Norton Sorauf; and his wife Simone. He is survived by: his father Frank Joseph Sorauf; his daughters, Christine Dayton (Dave) and Cathy Cusack (Don); his grandchildren, Matthew, Elizabeth, Maggie and Patrick; and his brother Frank Joseph Sorauf, Jr.. He is also survived by his family, his friends.
