He was predeceased by: his parents, John Kirkland Riggs and Rosabella Cole Riggs; and his brothers, Clyde Riggs, Sr., Sonny "Buck" Clements, James K. Riggs and Ben Riggs.

He is survived by: his children, Juanita Riggs Pearce (Marty) and John B. Riggs, Jr. (Veronica); his grandchildren, Marty Pearce, Jr. (Lauren), Cheryl P. Dietz (John), Ashley Goodwin (Jason), Charley Riggs, Amber Riggs and Heather Riggs; and his great grandchildren, Hudson Pearce, Addison Pearce, Cameron Dietz, Chloe Dietz, Greyson Pearce and Jack Goodwin.
