With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joseph Haslett Collie (Durham, North Carolina), born in Concord, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 27, 2025 at the age of 99. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Luther Collie and Anna Eugenia Haslett Collie; his mother-in-law Eleanor Yale; and his brother-in-law Benjamin Green. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his sons, Charles Collie (Betsy), Paul Collie (Julie) and Scott Collie (Amy); his grandchildren, Claire Collie, Lucas Collie, Alex Collie, Sam Collie, Jackson Collie and Anda Saitep; his sister Jane Heitzler (Mike); his sister-in-law Rosemary Green; his nephews, Benjamin Green Jr. (Kathy) and Andrew Wineapple; and his caregivers, Tania Keeys and Lauren Wilkins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hall-Wynne Funeral Service (1113 W Main St, Durham, NC 27701). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Epworth United Methodist Church (3002 Hope Valley Rd, Durham, NC 27707). A burial will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd 2025 at the Maplewood Cemetery (1621 Duke University Rd, Durham, NC 27701).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to these Durham, NC organizations: The Emily K Center (https://www.emilyk.org) and Epworth United Methodist Church.
