Lester Ray Hayes Obituary
We are sad to announce that, on January 6, 2026, at the age of 87, Lester Ray Hayes of Durham, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his sisters, Dixie Hoskin, Elsie Dudley and Dorothy Smith; his great grandchild Easton Ferrell; and his pets, Ranger and Rayfus.
He is survived by: his wife Billie Hayes; his children, Ray Hayes (Lavonda) and Janet Pridgen (Dennis); his stepson Lawerance Rackely (Susan); his sister Daisy Tyndall; his granddaughter Mindy Eubanks (Shane); his great grandchild Crystal Parker (Tracy); Tonya Watson, Brandie Hayes, Toney Watson (Amber), Brittany Strickland (Justin), Sarah Gurry (Michael), CJ Tant (Solange) and Stephanie Rackley. He is also survived by her son, and Dennis Pridgen, Jr.; 2 great great grandchildren and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Toney Watson, Justin Strickland, Christopher Carter, Ryan Eubanks, Dylan Bryant, and Dennis Pridgen Jr. Flowers are acceptable, or donations may be made in Lester's memory to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org or the American Heart Association at https://www.heart.org.
