She is survived by: her friends, Peggy Harris Bledsoe, Joyce Bivins Lassiter and Marie Herndon Jourdan of Carden's Dance Hall; her children, Denise Carol Byrd and John E; her grandchildren, Kyle Byrd, Jessica Byrd and John E. Byrd, III; her great grandchild Eloise (Ellie); her sister Paulette Bivins Shaw (George); her nephews, Rick Bivins, Thad Shaw and Jeremy Shaw; and her niece Jana Bivins Carter.
