With sadness, we share the passing of Paula James (Durham, North Carolina). Paula, born on December 12, 1953, passed away on September 10, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Paula for her warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. While she will be deeply missed, the influence she had on the lives around her remains. Loved ones will reflect on the time spent together. She is survived by: her parents, Paul Kenyon Browning and Rachel Matthews Browning; and her husband Gary James. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Clements Funeral Home (1105 Broad St, Durham, NC 27705). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Clements Funeral Chapel (1105 Broad St, Durham, NC 27705).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Samaritan's Purse (http://www.samaritanspurse.org) or the Billy Graham Evangelical Association (http://www.billygraham.org) in Paula's memory.
