He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Anne Tompkins and Mikel Tompkins; his wife Janene of Valentine's Day; his children, Adair and Daniel; and his daughter-in-law Martha. He was also cherished by siblings and many friends.
A memorial service was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Watts Street Baptist Church (800 Watts St, Durham, NC 27701). A celebration of life was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 at 3:30 PM at 609 Foster St, Durham, NC 27701.
