It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Joseph Heider of Durham, North Carolina, who passed away on May 17, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph John Heider, Sr. and Dolores Marie Hutter Heider; and his wife Carol Johnson Heider. He is survived by: his children, Mary Catherine "Cathy" DeFayette (Paul) of Hurdle Mills, NC and Lonnie Douglas "Doug" Heider (Krystal) of Glennville, GA; his granddaughters, Heather Marie Griffin (Josh) of Youngsville, NC and Brittany Nicole Ferrell (Evan) of Glennville, GA; his great grandchildren, Mary-Grace Caroline Griffin of Youngsville, NC and Benton Robert Griffin of Youngsville, NC; his brother Joseph John Heider, Jr. (Patty) of Lancaster, NY; his niece Becky Gandour (Andre) of Buffalo, NY; and his great-nephews, Ben and Nate Gandour of Buffalo, NY..
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hudson Funeral Home (211 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27703). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Hudson Funeral Home and Cremation Services (211 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27703).
Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made in Bob's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
