He was predeceased by: his father Samuel Bank Slaughter; his wife Lisa M. Slaughter; his sister Emma A. Slaughter; his mother-in-law Mary Fuqua; and his brothers-in-law, James Guthrie and Rodney Maxwell.

He is survived by: his siblings, Michelle Slaughter Bowditch (William), Kathy Slaughter Snyder, Patricia Slaughter Graham (Weldon), Jacqueline Slaughter McCrea, Warren Slaughter and Nick Stainback; and his siblings-in-law, Dexter L. McCrea Sr., William E. Bowditch, Weldon Graham, Tim Maxwell and Marilyn Slaughter.
