It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sarah Allene Owens (Durham, North Carolina), born in Whiteville, North Carolina, who passed away on December 26, 2020, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Roderick Belton and Maude Jane Thompson McCollum; her husband Hughie Edward Owens; her children, Joan Webb, Harold Owens, Nina Copeland, Valinda Fowler, Gail Perry, Marian Lennon, Janet Hammond (Lonnie), Debra Parker, Sheila Beal, Cathy Wright, Leondras Owens and Ralph Owens; and her sisters-in-law, Ruth Hedgepeth and Ethel McCollough. She was also cherished by 24 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.

A graveside service of celebration has been scheduled for Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 1:00 p. m. at Glennview Memorial Park, NC Hwy 55, Durham, North Carolina 27713, with viewing from 12:00 noon - 12:45 p. m. In every effort to keep everyone safe, face coverings will be required along with practicing social distancing for the graveside service.
