It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William George Benkert of Durham, North Carolina, who passed away on April 14, 2022, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father Alvin Benkert. He is survived by: his mother Lore Benkert; his wife Sigrid; his children, Eric Benkert (Kimberly) and Kristin Smith (John); his brother Carl Benkert; and his brother-in-law Waldemar Tiedemann. He is also survived by his six grandchildren.
