She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Ford Finley and Vivian Dora Brock; her husband Beauford Laverne Mays; her grandparents, Pheno and Thelma Brock; her siblings, Gerald Hurley, Floyd Womack, Carolyn Roberts and Sherrill Ross; and her stepgranddaughter Emily S. Moorefield.
She is survived by: her children, Debra M. Stephenson (Timothy) and Alton B. Mays (Amanda); her siblings, James Hurley, Freddie Gaines of Arizona and Brenda McNeill of Tennessee; her grandchildren, Kaylon Honeycutt (Jessica), Joshua Mays (Brittney) and Allison Holland Dean; and her stepgrandsons, Christopher Stephenson and Jared Stephenson. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Eagle Springs Baptist Church (460 Eagle Springs Rd, Eagle Springs, NC 27242). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Eagle Springs Baptist Church Cemetery (460 Eagle Springs Rd, Eagle Springs, NC 27242).
Despite a 15-year battle with Alzheimer's, she remained loving, gracious, and kind.
