He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Morgan Lyon and Edna Cockerham Lyon; his wife Lucille Burchette Lyon; his granddaughter Monica Wallace; his brothers, Boyce Lyon and Olin Lyon; his half-sisters, Vaude Brown and Lela Nelson; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Lyon and Edgar Spicer.
He is survived by: his daughters, Carolyn Poplin (Gary) and Janet Wallace (Mike); his grandchildren, Michelle Warden (Randy) and Bryan Poplin (Nicole); his great grandchildren, Isaac Warden (Sara) and Mackenzie Houston (Adam); his great great grandchildren, Sevila and Theo Warden; his siblings, Fay Spicer, Joe Lyon (Idesta) and Ray Lyon (Sandra); and his sister-in-law Betty Lyon.
A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the East Bend Baptist Church (112 Fairground Rd, East Bend, NC 27018).
