It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ronald Cathey of East Bend, North Carolina, who passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the vast expanse of eternity, may Ronald find peace everlasting, cradled in the gentle embrace of the universe. And as we stand on the shores of remembrance, may his legacy inspire us to live each day with purpose, passion, and profound gratitude for the gift of life itself.
He was predeceased by: his mother Geneva Hicks Cathey; and his son Charles "Chuck" Cathey. He is survived by: his wife Tammie Cathey; his children, Mark Cathey of Mount Airy, Juan Espinoza of Ohio, Deborah Wheeler (Tim), Teresa Cathey of Mount Airy and Amanda Espinoza of Winston Salem; his brother Kenneth Cathey (Mary) of Mount Airy; and his grandson Jakob Espinoza. He is also survived by several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Huff Funeral Home (212 Main St, East Bend, NC 27018). A reception will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
