He was predeceased by: his mothers, June Denny Key and Ida Mae Edwards. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Bagley Key; his brother Terry Key; his children, Wade "Denny" Key, Jr. and Amanda Key Shore (Bradley); his stepchildren, Tracie Leonard (Craig), Paige Oudekerk (Matt) and Brent Parker (Mandie); his grandchildren, Charlsie, Lila Key, Parker, Elliott, Worth Shore, Kimberly Leonard, Allison Baurichter, Casey Raines, Michael Oudekerk, Matthew Oudekerk, Katie Parker, Mason Parker and Cassidy Mason; and his close friend Valerie Key. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to SECU Hospice Care Center of Yadkin, 243 N Lee Ave, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
