He is survived by: his children, Vernoise Scales Jr. of Axton, VA and Martina Scales of Axton, VA; his brothers, Henry Dillard (Shirdene) of Eden and Nc Fabian Scales of Eden, NC; his sister-in-law Kathryn Dillard of Axton, VA; and his grandchildren, Thomas Hairston III and Tikyah Hairston. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
