He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ray Respess, Sr. and Helen Blackman Respess; his great grandchild Kayleigh Marie; and his nephew Justin Stephen Respess. He is survived by: his wife Janet Goodwin Respess; his daughters, Stefanie Norman (Charles) of Plymouth, NC, Crystal Simpson (Chris) of East Lake, NC, Stacy Taylor of Hampstead, NC and Shellie Harmon of Edenton, NC; his grandchildren, Tevion Leary (Mesha), Keiara Leary, Christian Simpson, Chasiti Taylor, Dylan Talor, Bailie Stanley and Aliyah Drew; his great grandchildren, Jaishawn, Nyâ, Artist, Karmyn, Kaisyn, Faithlyn, Kolson, Grayson, Paisleigh and Keâ; and his siblings, Sharon Respess Rowland (William) of Suffolk, VA and John Steven Respess (Carla) of Suffolk, VA..
