She was predeceased by: her parents, John Ervin and Rehem Dail Chappell; her husband Lester Garland Wood; and her siblings, Lessie Benton Hobbs, Lois Hobbs and Wilmer Chappell.
She is survived by: her children, Lester Keith Wood (Penny) of Edenton and Kathy Wood of Hillsborough, NC; her siblings, Lillie Rae Askew of Eure, Paige Stallings of Belvidere, Bertha Gay Talbot of Louisville, MS, John Wesley Chappell of Virginia Beach, VA and J. H. Chappell of Edenton; her grandchildren, Keith Jr., Ashley, Brandon, Lacey, Mandi and Brock; her great grandchildren, Nathanial, Selena, Ariel, Weston, Quinton, Kenstyn, Harrison, Carter, Bryer and Percy; and her great great grandchild Wren.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home Chapel (1125 Harvey Point Rd, Hertford, NC 27944).
