She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, James A., Jr. and Urser Nurney Russell; her siblings, Wilma, Elizabeth, Harry and Monroe; her husband Skittlethorpe of Maryland; and her children, Nancy Jess of Edenton, Linda Ricks (Jimmie) of Boykins, VA, Jackie Pierce (Adal) of Windsor, NC, Patti Tynch (Stan Jr.) of Edenton, Doug Grant (Karla) of Kingsland, TX and Steve Grant (Kay) of San Antonio, TX. She was also cherished by 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home (735 Virginia Rd, Edenton, NC 27932). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the First Assembly of God (1201 W Queen St, Edenton, NC 27932). A burial will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Beaver Hill Cemetery.
