He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonzie Clayton and Lula Clayton; his brother Odell; and his grandmothers, Faye Clayton, Thelma Scott and Elvaleen Warren.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Payne Clayton; his children, Lloyd Clayton (Janice) of Mebane, NC, Carlton Clayton (Debbie) of Mebane, NC, Royce Clayton (Gayle) of Mebane, NC. and Cheryl Borg (Tony) of Beaver Creek; his grandchildren, Jessica Lutterloh, Dustin Clayton, Darty Clayton, David Clayton and Dana Clayton; and his stepgrandchildren, Jerry White and Maranda White.
