He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse William Carson and Geneva Whitehurst Carson; his son Jonathan Whitehurst Carson; and his sister Patricia Anne Carson. He is survived by: his daughter Courtney Lynne Carson; his grandson Jaxson Layne Bryant of Greenville, NC; his friend Jeryl "Jeri" Shirley Carson of Elizabeth City; and his goddaughter Jennifer Shirley Boykin of Cary, NC.
