She was predeceased by: her parents, Carra Ward Godfrey and Abraham Lincoln Godfrey, Sr.; and her siblings, Katherine Byrum, Daphne Lane, Agnes Ivey, Gizelda Gurkins, Betty Matthews, Frances Spivey, Marie Deal, Abraham Lincoln Godfrey and Aulton Godfrey.
She is survived by: her husband Edward Lee Cartwright, Sr.; her children, Renee Davenport (Michael) of Manteo, NC and Edward Lee Cartwright, Jr. (Lisa); her grandchildren, Hannah McGee (Todd), Dana Davenport (Cory), Jamie Davenport, Pamela Familiar (Justin), Nicole Hudson (Riley) and Matthew Cartwright (Rachel); her sisters-in-law, Doris Godfrey and Shirley Clark; her caregiver Serena Harshbarger; Nancy Winslow. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Twiford Memorial Chapel (405 E Church St, Elizabeth City, NC 27909). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Twiford Funeral Homes (405 E Church St, Elizabeth City, NC 27909).
