He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady Wilson Ballance (Sally Parker Ballance) and Virginia Brickhouse Ballance; his granddaughter Crystal; and his siblings, Doris Sawyer, Estelle Smith, Mary Joyce Spruill, Jimmy Ballance and James Ballance.
He is survived by: his children, Pat Ambrose (Billy) of Columbia, NC, Barbara Sawyer of Elizabeth City, NC, Ronnie Brickhouse (Linda) of Suffolk, VA, Johnnie Ballance of Elizabeth City, NC, David Ballance (Carol) of Elizabeth City, NC and Ed Ballance (Lillie) of Elizabeth City, NC; his grandchildren, Charlotte, Charlie, Steven, Sarah, Jamie, Kenny, Timmy and Heather; and his siblings, Millie O'Neal and Preston Ballance. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Twiford Funeral Home (405 E Church St, Elizabeth City, NC 27909).
