He is survived by: his wife Marlinda Platt Bethea; his parents, Pearline Bethea Purdie of Dublin, NC and David Troy; his stepfather Leroy Purdie; his brother Dennis Burden; and his stepdaughter Carlena Platt Smith. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
