It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Odell Highsmith of Elizabethtown, North Carolina, who passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his father Norman Highsmith; and his brother Robert Lee Highsmith. He is survived by : his wife Effie Mae Johnson Highsmith; his daughters, Yolanda Lenora Highsmith and Angela Yvette Highsmith (Toriano) of Wendell, NC; his aunt Marie Henry; his grandchildren, Jamel Highsmith, Randolph Barnes II, Charity Highsmith and Timothy Armstrong; his great grandchild Melia Turner Highsmith; and his friend Minnie Hawkins. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
