He was predeceased by: his adoptive parents, Mattie Tatum and Willard Tatum; his son Robert Marvin Tatum, Jr.; and his siblings, Inez Carver, Ronald Tatum, Jimmy Tatum, Sarah Borbeau and G. C. Tatum.
He is survived by: his family Trinity Methodist Church; his wife Nancy Tatum; his children, Kimberly Edwards (Seth) of Washington, NC and Steve Tatum (Renee) of Elizabethtown; his grandchildren, Tatum Haselden (Matt), Tori Donadio (Alex), Sydney Tate (William), Marshall Tatum, Coleman Tatum and Garrison Tatum; his great grandchildren, Livia Haselden, Matthew Haselden and Ace Donadio; and his siblings, Sandra Stanley of Winston-Salem and Edward Tatum of Elizabethtown.
A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, August 27th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Methodist Church (901 W Broad St, Elizabethtown, NC 28337).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Methodist Church or Bladen We Care.
