She was predeceased by: her parents, Dewitt Dowless and Ethel Lee Bryan Dowless. She is survived by: her sons, Stephen Patrick Burney (Tracy) of Bladenboro, Jeffrey Lynn Burney (Lori) of Franklinton and Kenneth Daniel Burney of Tar Heel; and her siblings, Grady, Willard "Bill", David, Isaac Dowless, Erma Lamb and Georgia Hill. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, May 24th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home & Cremation Services (3131 M. L. K. Dr, Elizabethtown, NC 28337). A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 25th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Community Baptist Church (3107 NC-410, Bladenboro, NC 28320). A burial will be held on Monday, May 25th 2026 at 11:45 AM at the Community Baptist Church Cemetery (3107 NC-410, Bladenboro, NC 28320).
