He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Viola Byrd Hurt; his sister Disa Ann Wishon; his brother-in-law John Wishon; and his nephew Al Poplin.
He is survived by: his wife Lutricia Hurt; his siblings, Bill Hurt (Mary) of Mooresville and Myrtle Poplin (Bob) of Ronda; his niece Debbie Wagoner (Gary) of Elkin; and his close friend Kathy Landry of Elkin.
