It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles M. Byers of Ellenboro, North Carolina, who passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Hampton Byers and Gertrude Sisk Byers; and his siblings, Willia Mae Byers Cooper, William Edward Byers (Jim) and Robert Gerald Byers (Jerry).
He is survived by: his wife Melba Waters Byers; his children, C. Philip Byers of Forest City, Lynn Byers Flack (John E. Flack) of Forest City and Kerrie Byers Earley (Shane) of Ellenboro; his granddaughter Natalie Kathleen Flack of Forest City; his sister Ruby Byers Bright; and his sister-in-law Dianne Earley Byers of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
