He was predeceased by: his parents, Mal Lane and Mary Davis Lane; and his siblings, James Lane, Howard Lane and Estelle Honeycutt.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Greene Lane; his son Ernest Lane Jr.; his stepchildren, William Scott Skipper (Martha), LaDonna Hoyle and Becky Mullinex (Alan); and his siblings, Betty Joe Anderson (Charles) and Randall Lane.
