He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawson McDaniel and Nellie McDaniel; his daughter Wendy; his son-in-law Bryan Neville; and his sisters, Sarah Simmons and Edna Brackett.
He is survived by: his wife Sarah Ruth Humphries (Ruth); his children, Sarah Frances McDaniel, William Raymond McDaniel and Carmen McDaniel Butler (Tim); his grandchildren, Bronson Chadwick (Emily), Nathan Butler, Whitney Hardin (Steven) and Lawson Butler (Carley); his great grandchildren, Xzavier, Zander Butler, Alicia, Logan Hardin, Ryder and Mylee Butler; his sister Raye McDaniel Hiney; and his pet Barney.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory can be made to Drury Dobbins Baptist Church building fund.
