He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther R. Tate and Ethel Padgett Tate; and his brother Leonard Tate. He is survived by: his wife Rita Harris Tate; his son Steven Thomas Tate of Ellenboro; his nephew Michael Tate (Jennifer); his great-niece Anna; his nephew Phil Tate (Leeann); and his great-nieces, Daisy, Lucy and Bonnie.
