He is survived by: his wife Sandi Butler; his children, Kim Hamrick (Kenny) of Boiling Springs, NC, Kelly Scruggs (Keith) of Forest City, Gary Woods (Melissa) of Oregon, Johnny Franklin (Michelle) of Ellenboro and Mike Franklin (Bridget) of Rutherfordton; his siblings, Johnny Butler (Lynn) of Forest City and Betty Whiteside of Rutherfordton; and his close friend Burgin Champion. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.
