She was predeceased by: her parents, John Wesley and Elsie Allen Ellerbe; her husband Larry Branson Chappell; her sister Margaret E. Lowdermilk; and her niece Dianne Harvey.

She is survived by: her children, Joie Tavener (Roger), Joshua Chappell (Kim) and Jon Chappell; her grandchildren, Owen Tavener (Chelsea), Katie Baker (Curtis), Alex Chappell (Caroline), Wesley Chappell (Hannah) and Elizabeth Chappell (Logan); her great grandchildren, Orie Tavener, Riven Tavener, Graham Chappell, Hayes Chappell, Nathan Chappell, Landon Chappell, Jackson Chappell and Elsie Mabe; her nephew Mike Lowdermilk; her great-nephew Chris Harvey (Elizabeth); William, Graham, Jackson Harvey and Amanda Lowdermilk.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM at the Ellerbe Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
