He is survived by: his parents, Al Bates and Nan Varnell Bates; his wife Angela McFayden Bates; his children, Chandler Bates, Kennedy Bates and Peyton Bates; his brother Todd Bates (Sharon); and his nieces, Sierra, Alexis and Savannah Bates.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM at the Fellowship Baptist Church (136 Wallace Rd, Ellerbe, NC 28338). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
