He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Watson and Thelma Whitman Watson; and his siblings, Shirley Casey-Warren, Linda Summerlin, Johnnie "Sonny" Watson, Julian Watson, Timmie and Jimmie Watson.
He is survived by: his daughter Marcy Watson O'Connell (Elias) of Lucama; his grandchildren, Blake, Tyler, Emma, Eli, Jaxon and Cheyenne; his siblings, Carol Hathaway Upchurch (Edward) of Elm City, Patricia Hathaway Jones of Wilson, Frankie Watson Sweatt of Fayetteville, Helen Hathaway Reusch of Raleigh, Charles Ingram of Kenansville and James "Tony" Watson (Lydia) of Williamsburg, VA.; and his uncle Eugene Whitman of Henderson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
