He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Dickens Doles; his sister Nancy Doles Mitchell of Wilson; his daughters, Laura Lou Doles of Morehead City and Diana Doles "Dee" Stokes (Robert Stokes) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Caitlin Benton (Lane Benton) of New Bern, Diana Ritchie (Daniel Hatley) of Winterville, Mary-Wren Ritchie (Jose Garth) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Luke Stokes of Raleigh; his great grandchildren, Wake Benton, Bodie Benton and Femi Catalpa; his nieces and nephews, Wren Vanden Bosch of Wilson and Jeff Mitchell of Swansboro; and his cousins, John Buckner of Black Mountain, Gail and Bill Albertti of Hillsborough.
