He was predeceased by: his parents, Vladimir John and Charlotte Ann Nordman Szarek. He is survived by: his children, Kathryn Szarek (Richard Wood) of Durham and Joseph Szarek (Blanca Menjivar) of Greensboro; and his sisters, Patty Szarek, Margaret Oehrli, Elizabeth Nordman and Joan Mahr. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
