She was predeceased by: her father Lee Alfred Varney; and her brother Lee Varney. She is survived by: her husband W. T. "Tommy" Doughtie; her mother Elizabeth "Beau Beau" Cole; her children, Bobbi Buck (Trebor) and William "Will" Doughtie III (Emma); her grandchildren, Savannah Doughtie, Olivia Buck and Owen Buck; her siblings, Rhonda Varney, Robert "Bobby" Varney and Crystal Cole; her close friend Cecil "Bubba" Brown (James Cole); and her cousin Betty Jo "BJ" Okleshen.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Eure Christian Church (872 NC-137, Eure, NC 27935).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a local gardening organization in Cheryl's memory.
