He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvie Blake Kennedy and Annie Mae Lambert Kennedy; his siblings, A. B. Kennedy, Haynes Kennedy and Richard Kennedy; and his nephew Kenneth Blake Kennedy.

He is survived by: his siblings, Cecilia Best, Mary Elizabeth Kennedy and David Kennedy (Pat); his nieces and nephews, Janet Best, Carolyn Best, Mellone Kennedy, Dennis Eugene Kennedy, John Kennedy and Elizabeth Kennedy; and his sister-in-law Laura Kennedy.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Worthington Funeral Home (405 E Strawberry Blvd, Chadbourn, NC 28431). A burial was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 at 10:45 AM at the Boardman Baptist Church Cemetery (2417 Old Boardman Rd, Evergreen, NC 28438). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Worthington Funeral Home (405 E Strawberry Blvd, Chadbourn, NC 28431).
