He was predeceased by: his parents, J. L. Hamilton and Carolyn Hamilton; and his sister Ava Lynn Ward. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Hamilton; his children, Whitney, Courtney and Cody Hamilton; his grandson Colton Hill; and his siblings, Deidre Callahan (JR) of Fairmont, NC and Rickie Hamilton (Lisa) of Tabor City, NC.. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp 4 Heros, 176 Zimp Rd Fairmont, NC 28340.
