He was predeceased by: his parents, Spruell Britt and Annie Page Britt. He is survived by: his wife Jane Page Britt; his children, John Pate (Leigh Ann) of Marietta, NC and Weatherly Cook (Ross) of Chapel Hill, NC; his siblings, Johnny Britt (Jeanne) of Whiteville, NC., Betty Inman (Robbie) and JoAnn Hitzemann of Fort Mill, SC.; his grandchildren, Anna Pate Jenkins (William), Chloe Pate Young (Jacob), John Thomas Pate III and Lottie Cook; and his great grandchild Thayer Young.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fair Bluff Baptist Church, P.O. Box 217, Fair Bluff, NC 28439 or a charity of your choice that promotes the enrichment of the Town of Fair Bluff or Columbus County.
