He was predeceased by: his parent G. D. Smith, Jr.; his son Brian Gibson; and his brother Scott Smith. He is survived by: his mother Janice Melton Smith; his wife Leah Laverty Smith; his sons, Melton Smith (Landin) and Lathan Smith; his brothers, Rocky Smith (Dee) and Rod Smith (Angie); his nieces and nephews, Alaina Smith Franks, Krystal Smith, Noland Smith, Dakota Smith and Bryson Smith; his grandson Landon Smith (Rachel); his great grandchild Alaya Smith; and his stepdaughters, Autumn, Mia and Julia.
