He was predeceased by : his mother Lizzie Thornton Sessoms; his stepfather Fleet Roosevelt Sessoms; his wife Glenna Martin Thornton; and his brothers, John Delton "J. D." Sessoms and William "Cootie" Sessoms.
He is survived by : his children, Shelley Stephens (Danny) of Lumberton, NC and Douglas Thornton (Marcie) of Bellevue, NE; and his grandchildren, Gage, Andrew (Christina), Mya and Glenna Danielle.
