He was predeceased by: his daughter Brenda Carter McFadyen. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Edwards; his son Bobby (Gaye) of Chapel Hill; his son-in-law John McFadyen; and his daughters, Glenda Guy of Fayetteville and Elizabeth Wosinski (Jacob) of Greensboro. He is also survived by grandchildren as well as one great grandchild.
