He was predeceased by: his parents, Genevieve G. Holmgren (Birge) and Carl E. Holmgren; his wife Carol R. Holmgren (Schroeder); and his siblings, Carl, David and Linda.
He is survived by: his children, Keith Holmgren (Kimber) of Carlsbad, CA, Yolanda Dailey (Kevin) of Menomonee Falls, WI, Kendra Salmon (William) of Fayetteville, Rhonda DeBartoli (Peter) of Henderson, NV and Missy Golden of Cambridge, MN; his brother Richard Holmgren (Lynn) of Shoreview, MN; and his half-sister Laurie Sager of Andover, MN. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, one great grandchild.
A burial will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery (7601 34th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55450). A reception will be held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the VFW Post 5555 (6715 Lake Shore Dr S, Minneapolis, MN 55423).
