He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Franklin Thompson and Gladys Long Thompson; and his siblings, Calvin Thompson, Charles Thompson, Jean Thompson Duncan, Peggy Thompson MacIntyre, John Thompson, Billy Joe Thompson and Mary Frances Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Eloise Todd Thompson; his son Mike Thompson; his daughter-in-law Lucynda Autry Thompson; his grandchildren, Charity McKenzie Thompson of Wilmington, Grace Lindsey Thompson (Harrison Camp) of Chapel Hill and Gabriel Ian Thompson of Fayetteville; his sister Nancy Thompson Copeland; and his sister-in-law Sharon Thompson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
